The fruits of hawthorn are a spherical shape of orange, dark red or even dark brown. Inside, the fruit has 1-5 seeds, which are located near the calyx at the top and are slightly covered with skin. Fruits are widely used as the basis of tinctures, decoctions or infusions, compotes, wine and jam are prepared from them, brewed into tea.
Vitamin composition
Hawthorn fruits contain:
- Triterpenic acids (ursolic, oleanic, krategic);
- Saponins;
- Phytosterols;
- Glycosides;
- Flavonoids;
- Organic acids – malic, citric, ascorbic.
Effect
Hawthorn fruits are actively used in the treatment of women’s health problems. Tea, decoctions, infusions help eliminate tissue hypoxia, maintain the cardiovascular system, reduce the severity of migraines and adjust the level of sex hormones. Taking hawthorn also helps in slowing down the aging process, keeps the skin young, eliminates minor defects. Tea with hawthorn helps in weight correction, eliminating swelling and enhancing metabolic processes, stimulating the burning of subcutaneous fat.
Cooking method
About 10 g (1 tablespoon) of fruit is placed in an enameled dish, 200 ml (1 cup) of hot boiled water is poured, covered with a lid and heated in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes, cooled at room temperature for 45 minutes, filtered. The remaining raw materials are squeezed out, the volume of the resulting infusion is brought to 200 ml with boiled water.
It is recommended to shake the infusion before use.
Side effect
Allergic reactions are possible. With prolonged use, there may be a decrease in blood pressure, bradycardia, drowsiness.
Contraindications to use
Hypersensitivity, I trimester of pregnancy, lactation period, condition after stroke and heart attack, children under 12 years of age.
