Ivan-tea is a perennial root—springing herbaceous plant of the Cypress family, sometimes popularly called “cypress”, “Kopor tea”. It grows almost throughout the European part of Russia. It is found among shrubs, in forests, on the edges, glades, wastelands.
Vitamin composition
Ivan-tea is famous for its composition:
- Ascorbic acid and vitamin C (3 times higher than in citrus fruits!);
- Carotene;
- Pectin;
- Pyrogall tannins;
- Alkaloids;
- Sugar;
- Copper, iron;
- Manganese.
Effect
It has a sedative, anticonvulsant, analgesic, anti-inflammatory (especially with peptic ulcer), astringent (with diarrhea, dysentery), antipyretic effect. It is recommended for headaches, insomnia, scrofula, women’s diseases (including heavy menstruation, whites), metabolic disorders, stomach ulcers, inflammation of the ear, throat, nose.
Cooking method
Pour 1 tablespoon of raw materials with 1 cup of boiling water, insist for 2 hours. Strain. Take 2 tablespoons before meals 3-4 times a day.
