A herbaceous plant that grows almost throughout Europe and in Western Siberia. It is widely used as a spicy-aromatic and medicinal plant, it is also grown as an ornamental. In accordance with the modern classification of plants according to the APG IV system, it belongs to the genus Angelica of the Umbrella family (Apiaceae). In earlier classifications, this botanical species was often found under the name Angelica officinalis (Latin Angelica archangelica) and included in the genus Angelica, and also appeared simply under the name “angelica”.
